Two horses from Haras des Coudrettes are retiring: Aquila HDC (Ovidius x Lauriston) and For Joy van ‘t Zorgvliet HDC (For Pleasure x Heartbreaker). Aquila started his international career under the saddle of Wout-Jan van der Schans (NED) and, after his sale, continued successfully with Patrice Delaveau (FRA). For Joy van ‘t Zorgvliet performed at the highest level with Kevin Staut (FRA). Aquila bred by Stoeterij Oud Wierden stood out with Wout-Jan van der Schans in the nations cup at CSIO5* Dublin (IRL) and La Baule (FRA), where he stayed double clear. In 2016 the combination ended when Haras des Coudrettes purchased Aquila for €750,000 through the SFN Auction. With his new rider Patrice Delaveau Aquila won seven international competitions, including the Grand Prix of Hong Kong and La Baule. He was injured in the run-up to the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon (USA). In April of 2019 he made a winning comeback but was then injured again. Last year he competed at a few two-star CSIs but did not return to his old level.
