Next week the German Dressage Championships will take place in Balve. Although some top combinations will start, a few big names are missing. German superstars such as Bella Rose, Showtime, Cosmo and Sammy Davis Jr. will not be present at the national championship. “They do not have the top form to perform at this level. After minor health problems at the beginning of the summer, the training fitness of the horses is not as good as we have seen them at previous championships,” explains national coach Monica Theodorescu to Dressursport Deutschland. She also states that Stand by Me of Lisa Müller, who bought d’Avie van Helgstrand Dressage at the end of last month, is currently injured and is therefore unable to participate. “I need about two matches with Bella Rose to prepare her for the championships,” explains Isabell Werth. The rider will take Emilio and Weihegold OLD to Balve.
There are still plenty of other a-list names competing at the German championships as well. Jessica von Bredow-Werndl will start with TSF Dalera BB, her brother Benjamin Werndl with Daily Mirror and Famoso OLD, Ingrid Klimke with Franziskus, Dorothee Schneider with Faustus, Sönke Rothenberger with Santiano, Helen Langehanenberg with Annabelle and Hubertus Schmidt with Escolar.
