Christopher Burton, who was to compete for Australia in the Olympic eventing, has withdrawn. His 15-year-old mare Quality Purdey (by Quality 8) is not fully fit. The minor injury was discovered during the veterinary check before leaving for Tokyo. The horse will most likely recover, but participation in the Games is not justified, Burton and the Australian federation let us know. Burton is a resident of the United Kingdom and was most recently sixth in the short four-star at Bicton with Quality Purdey. The pair finished second in the five-star at Pau in late 2019. It would have been the third Olympics for Burton. He was listed in Equirating as a serious medal contender, with a 25% chance of a top three finish. In the Australian team the reserves now move up a place. Stuart Tinney gets a place on the team with Leporis (by Lasino) and Kevin McNab goes to Tokyo as a travelling reserve with Don Quidam (by Con Quidam).
