German dressage rider Dorothee Schneider finished third in the Grand Prix of the national competition in Pforzheimer. At the prize-giving ceremony, however, her horse Rock’n Rose (by Rubin Royal) suddenly collapsed. The 17-year-old mare died moments later in the ring. The veterinarian on scene suspected a ruptured aorta. Schneider fell and was injured. The 51-year-old Schneider was conscious and was taken to the hospital for further examination. She had been riding Rock’n Rose since 2013. On her website, Schneider describes the mare as very sensitive and hot. The two made their international debut in 2016 and were often on the Grand Prix podiums in national and international competitions. Their last big win was in October at Gut Ising.
