Good news, the European Championships will continue in contrast to previous reports. The European Championship will take place from 11 to 30 August in the region of Budapest (Hungary).
The FEI has announced that, due to current developments, the European Championships can go ahead anyway. It will be a very special edition. In the original calendar, only the U25 riders and Children would compete in Hungary. Due to the cancellation of the European Championships for Juniors and Young Riders in England and the European Championships for Ponies in Poland, these categories will now also be added to the program in Hungary.
Naturally, many appropriate measures will be taken during the ECCP to prevent the spread of the coronavirus. Because the European Championships are already on such short notice and there are hardly any competitions before then, the minimum qualification requirements (MER) normally set by the FEI do not apply this year.
With the expansion of all categories, the European Dressage Championships will be held over a period of more than two weeks. The planning is as follows:
Children and Juniors from Sunday 9 to Friday 14 August inclusive
Young Riders and U25 from 17 to 22 August
Ponies from Tuesday 25th to Sunday 30th August.
