The FEI has set up an aid fund to support national federations. FEI Solidarity funding goes to more than 40 projects in 23 countries. This is what the FEI says in a statement. The aim is to stimulate equestrian activity at equestrian centres and schools. Especially the care and management of horses. A total of 105 out of 137 national federations are eligible for support from the established Covid-19 aid fund.
“The pandemic has had a devastating impact worldwide and a major adverse effect on the equestrian world in general, but some countries, especially those with fewer economic resources to start with, have been particularly hard hit,” said Ingmar De Vos, FEI Chair and Chairman of the FEI Solidarity Committee. He continues: “The Covid-19 Relief Fund will provide financial support to maintain equestrian activities in these countries. We hope it will enable these communities to cope with the current economic difficulties caused by the pandemic.” The FEI has already allocated around €2.8 million in development funding, a third of which for Covid-19 aid, to 23 national federations.
