FEI will allow coloured jackets

Dressage riders have to wear traditionally coloured jackets and only in the Freestyle to music is it allowed to wear a coloured jacket. But that will change. From 1 January 2021, the FEI will allow coloured jackets to be worn in the international Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special. Good news for the dressage riders, after the dressage hat petition was delivered too late.
“Through the rule that applies until 1 January 2021 we wanted to maintain the tradition,” says Frank Kemperman of the FEI Dressage Committee. “We only gave them freedom of choice in the Freestyle. But the Dressage Committee accepts the request to move away from the traditional colours and give riders more freedom.”
From 1 January it will therefore be permitted to wear a jacket in non-traditional colours not only in the Freestyle, but in all Grand Prix events. Dressage hats will no longer be allowed from then on.
