One of the great eventing horses from Germany is no more. Ingrid Klimke reports on her Facebook the passing of the 25-year-old FRH Butts Abraxxas, also known as ‘Braxx’. Acute heart problems became fatal to him. As of 2007 the duo Ingrid Klimke and “Braxxi” were a fixed value for the German eventing team. Highlights were the gold team medals in Hong Kong 2008 and London 2012. After the 2008 Games, the sale of Braxxi threatened to put an end to the duo. Madeleine Winter-Schulze prevented this and promised Klimke that the horse could always stay with her. In 2014, Braxxi was withdrawn from the top sport by Klimke and served as a tutor for Ingrid’s daughter Greta Busacker. Braxxi stood in box number 1 at Ingrid Klimke’s stable until his death.
