Last year in May, Spanish dressage rider Juan Matute Guimon ended up in hospital after suffering severe cerebral haemorrhage. Now, more than a year later, he is back in the saddle again and took his first victory at 4* level at the Pferd International Munich. Guimon kept Lena Waldmann and Astrid Neumayer at bay in the class. For the Grand Prix Freestyle, Guimon saddled the 15-year-old Fighting Fit son Quantico and rode to a fine score of 76,400. This was enough for the 23-year-old Spaniard to win. Lena Waldmann was a little behind Guimon. The German rider rode Fiderdance (by Fidertanz) to 76,140 and came second. Austria’s Astrid Neumayer completed the podium. With Zap Zap (by Blue Hors Zack) she scored 75,900 for third.
