Malin Baryard-Johnsson lost a old friend, Butterfly Flip

Swedish rider Malin Baryard-Johnsson announced via Instagram that her former top horse Butterfly Flip (by Robin I Z) has died at the age of 30.

“A very dear old friend has left us,” Baryard-Johnsson wrote on Instagram. “RIP dear Flip, you are forever in my heart.”

The combination was very successful. The duo competed at two Olympics, 2000 (Sydney) and 2004 (Athens). In 2004 they even jumped to a silver medal for the Swedish team. At the European Championships in Arnhem (NED) in 2001 they also won a silver team medal. In 2003 the combination was proclaimed the best horse and rider combination in the world.
