The Brazilian Equestrian Federation (CBH, Confederação Brasileira de Hipismo) has issued a statement announcing that Nelson Pessoa, aka Neco, has accepted an important role as technical advisor. The Brazilian team are qualified for the upcoming Olympic Games in Tokyo and are looking to increase their chances with the addition of Neco to their team. For many, Neco is the Pelé of the jumping sport. The former jumping rider joins Philippe Guerdat and Rodrigo Sarmento on the technical board of the Brazilian federation. This will give the current Pan American champions a level of knowledge that cannot be compared to any other team in the world. Nelson Pessoa is rightly in the Brazilian Olympic Committee’s Hall of Fame. He is one of the most winning riders of all time, with 150 Grand Prix victories, including the prestigious Hamburg Derby. He has won it no less than seven times. In addition, the ‘Magician’ has developed techniques in dealing with horses that have become the standard for many riders around the world.
