Spencer Wilton’s Super Nova II retired

Spencer Wilton has retired Super Nova II (De Niro x Weltmeyer). The British dressage rider was hoping for a spot on the Olympic team this year, but it was not to be. Wilton and Super Nova II were part of the 2016 British team that won team silver at the Rio de Janeiro Olympics and represented their home country at the 2017 European Championships in Gothenburg and the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon. “After eleven great years, the sporting career of Super Nova, or Neville, has come to an end. I was hoping that he would get one more chance to represent Team Great Britain this year, but it was not to be. Now that he is 18-years- old, he can enjoy a quiet life and do what he loves most: ride outside and eat grass,” says Wilton. Wilton and the British-bred Hanoverian made their international Grand Prix debut after an international Small Tour in 2013. At CDI3* Barcelona, there was then an immediate first place in the Grand Prix and a second place in the Special. In the following years, victories followed in Lier, Doha, Compiègne, Hartpury, Darmstadt, Hickstead, and Keysoe.
