After Steve Guerdat won the 5* Grand Prix of St. Tropez (FRA) previous weekend, the Swiss rider repeated this success last weekend in the 4* GP of Gorla Minore (ITA). Guerdat was too fast for the rest of the field in the jump-off and won the 1,55m Grand Prix with €95,000 purse. A total of 13 combinations were allowed to return after the first round for the jump-off. Steve Guerdat with Uranie de Belcour (by Flipper d’Elle) reigned supreme. The Swiss rider sent his 13-year-old Flipper d’Elle offspring round with lightning speed and stopped the clock at 33,32 seconds. None of his competitors were able to beat that and Guerdat took the win.
The closest competitor to Guerdat was the 20-year-old top Irish talent Harry Allen. Allen opened with the KWPN Guinness (by Nabab de Reve), bred by F. and P. Koster, but with 33.56 seconds came just little bit short. Abdelkebir Ouaddar and Istanbull v.h Ooievaarshof (by Casall) finished third with a time of 33.94 seconds. Mexican rider Fernando Martinez Sommer and KWPN bred Cor Bakker (by Colandro) crossed the finish line in 34.54 seconds and finished just off the podium in fourth place.
