With a good crop of 32 jumping stallions, including three stallions who received their premiums, the day got off to an excellent start. In terms of bloodlines it was a varied day today. Some sires showed their first offspring. The eight-year-old Ibolensky immediately had two sons directly appointed and several proven sires were also strong in the show. The proven Cornet Obolensky, Diamant de Semilly, Thunder van de Zuuthoeve and Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve all had two sons appointed.
Stallion selection committee member Wout-Jan van der Schans had to be replaced by Arie Hamoen. At the last minute, he had to go into home quarantine, but that did not prevent the committee from functioning as a harmonious team today. “We had a very pleasant judging day today. In general the stallions were good to judge and we are very pleased with the crop of 32 stallions that we like to see back under the saddle in the performance test,” responded committee chairman Cor Loeffen. “We have selected on conformation, pedigree and free jumping technique. We also looked at scope, reflexes and light-footedness in the canter. A few times we gave genetically very interesting stallions the benefit of the doubt because we can make a much better estimation of their natural ability in the performance test.”
Three stallions earned the title premium stallion and are thus invited for their premiering today. This year, for the first time stallions with a non-KWPN registration life number could also be invited, and this was immediately taken advantage of. Premiered are: Nouri W (Cohinoor VDL x Carrera VDL) of the VDL Stud; Night Life VDL (Erco van ‘t Roosakker x Arezzo VDL) also of the VDL Stud; and Saltador ter Putte (For Pleasure x Diamant de Semilly) of breeder Egbert Schep.
Today the programme will continue from 09.00 hours. On the site of KWPN you can follow the stallion selection live.
